November 23, 1951

Born in Xiangtan of Hunan Province with secular name Sheng Qinghui.

April 1981

Ordained by Ven. Ren De from the Zhiyuan Temple in Mount Jiuhua in Anhui Province, with monastic name Sheng Hui and alternative monastic name Hui Guo.  

1982

Enrolled in the Buddhist Academy of China.

October, 1982

Joined in the Three Precepts Ceremony for receiving the complete precepts at Donglin Temple on Lushan Mountain.

1986

Completed undergraduate program from the Buddhist Academy of China.

1989

Completed postgraduate program from the Buddhist Academy of China.

1990 to 1992

Appointed as the vice- dean and provost of Mount Jiuhua Buddhist College.

1992-1996

Nominated as the vice dean and provost of the Buddhist Academy of China; later took over the position of the vice-president of the Buddhist Association of China.

1994

Became the Abbot of Gulushan Temple in Changsha City of Hunan Province and the president of the Buddhist Association of Hunan.

1997

Became the abbot of the Nanputuo Temple as the request of Mr. Zhao Puchu who was the then President of the Buddhist Association of China and the invitation of the Nanputuo Temple; meanwhile, acted as the rector of the Buddhist College of Minnan and the chairman of the Nanputuo Charitable Foundation.

Spring, 1998

Elected as the member of 9th National Committee of the CPPCC.

January 26, 2000

Continued being the abbot of the Nanputuo Temple as the request of monastics.

August 17, 2000

Attended the Seminar of the World Peace Issues discussed by the Chinese Buddhist Realm organized by the delegation of China Religious Leaders in Beijing.

August 28 to 31, 2000

As representative of the Buddhist Association of China to attend the Millennium Summit of World Religious and Spiritual Leaders at the United Nations and had a speech of praying in the closing ceremony.

November 13, 2000

Elected as the vice president of the China Anti-Cult Association which was set up in Beijing.

October 24, 2000

Attended the 3rd Conference of the Buddhist Friendly Communication Committee of CJK (China, Japan and Korea) cum the World Peace Praying Ceremony for New Century and International Academic Seminar in South Korea.

March 9, 2001

Attended the 4th Session of 9th Meeting of the CPPCC and delivered a speech with the topic of "Against Evil, Anti-cult, Anti-crime and Supporting Righteousness".

April 6, 2001

As the member of U.N. Association of China to participate in the 57th Conference of Human Rights Committee in Geneva and appealed for the peace and safeguarding human rights against the cult.

June 20, 2001

Elected as the president of Buddhist Association of Xiamen.

January 10 to 27, 2001

Conducted the 4th Buddhist Friendly Communication Committee of CJK (China, Japan and Korea) and delivered a speech on behalf of Buddhist Association of China.

February 23, 2002

As the leader to lead the group of escorting to Buddha's finger relics to Taiwan.

September 16 to 20, 2002

Elected as the acting vice-president in the 7th National Monastics Congress of the Buddhist Association of China held in Jingfeng Hotel of Beijing.

2003

Became the abbot of Lingguang Temple of Beijing.

2004

Became the president of the Buddhist Association of Tianjin and the abbot of Dabei Temple in Tianjin.
