In the evening on March 26, BCM held a grand opening ceremony of the spring semester in 2018. The Most Ven. Ze Wu (Rector of BCM), Ven. Jie Xiang (Executive vice Rector of BCM), Ven. Fa Yuan (Vice Rectors of BCM), Ven. Jing Xin (Vice Rectors of BCM and Dean of Disciplines’ Office), Ven. De Huang (Temple Supervisor of the Nanputuo Temple), etc. residential monks, all teachers and students participated in this ceremony. Ven. Jie Xiang hosted this general assembly.
This general assembly honored the outstanding academic monks and nuns in the second semester of 2017. In addition, the intentions of BCM are: enhancing the Bodhi-citta (awakening mind) of monk and nun students, inspiring the enthusiasm of study and practice, consolidating the faith of the monk and nun students, and cultivating perfect merit of the Saṃgha. There were also 358 awards given for students who had recited "The Three Scriptures of the last words of the Buddha".
Regarding how to be a positive and worthy person of BCM under the background of the new era, the Most Ven. Ze Wu put forward three requirements for all teachers and students of BCM at the meeting: (1) to be a good, patriotic and law-abiding monk or nun; (2) to know law and Law-abiding and form a legal awareness and focus on the great importance during the process of learning; (3) to be a good monk or nun who has the right faith and observing the Buddhist disciplines, following the rules laid down by ancestral Masters, learning how to respect the teachers and the Dharma, and paying attention to the excellent behavior of the daily life; and to be a wonderful monk or nun who has the highest virtue and profound knowledge on Buddhism, individually cultivating a good conduct and working hard for Buddhist moral education. Lastly, the Rector wished everyone would get a good result of study in a new semester and auspiciousness of the six periods of day and night.
