On June 2, 2017, the Delegation of "Re-walking the Maritime Silk Road" which is made up of the 15th batch of graduates of the Buddhist College of Minnan (BCM) and the Buddhist Association of Xiamen (BAXM) with a total of 138 persons visited the Zu-Lin Temple and joined in the Founding & Listing Ceremony of the Buddhist College of Minnan Alumni Association Singapore Branch (BCMAA-Singapore).

The Most Ven. Zewu (the Vice-President of the Buddhist Association of China, the President of the BAXM, the Abbot of Nanputuo Monastery and the Rector of the BCM), the Most Ven. Kaixiang (the Abbot of the Zu-Lin Temple), Ven. Master Dingheng (General Vice-President of the BAXM), Ven. Master Jiexiang (Vice-President of the BAXM and General Vice-Rector of the BCM), Ven. Master Fayun (Vice-President of the BAXM), Ven. Master Jingxin (Vice-President & Secretary of the BAXM and Vice-Rector & Teaching Director of the BCM), Ven. Master Shicheng (Vice-President of the BAXM), Ven. Master Honglai (Vice-Secretary of the BAXM and Assistant Rector of the BCM) and other masters attended this event. Dr. Zhang Huo-bin (Mayor of North West District and Member of Congress, Advisor of the Zu-Lin Temple), and Dr. He Jia-liang (Former Senior Minister and Member of Congress, Advisor of the Zu-Lin Temple) were invited to participate in this event and give a speech.

At 10 a.m., the delegation arrived at the Zu-Lin Temple. The Most Ven. Kaixiang led all the disciples and followers to welcome the delegation. With flowers and lion dancing, the Most Ven. Zewu and other masters entered the Mahavira Hall, lit up Buddhist incense and worshipped the Buddha image.

The ceremony was hosted by Ven. Master Jingxin. First of all, the Most Ven. Kaixiang gave a speech. As the 6th batch of graduate and alumni of the BCM, the Most Ven. Kaixiang had a deep feeling to the BCM and the Most Ven. Miaozhan. He said, "I have lived in Singapore for about 15 years but I always kept the teaching words of the Most Ven. Miaozhan. He once wrote a word to remind us not to forget the sufferings of people. 'Suffering', means not only the poverty of family and finance, but also means the pain in people's heart. 'Suffering', represents not only the pain in life, but also the poverty in people's spirit and heart under today's flourishing society. Moreover, this word includes the expectation of the Most Ven. Miaozhan to all the Buddhist students. I hope we could inherit his willingness, keep this word and the teachings of Buddha in mind, and be proud of our status as the member of the BCM. Today, the BCMAA-Singapore was founded. We should enhance the contacts and carry forward the spirit of compassion and wisdom. In addition, we should undertake our incumbent duty and play a role in the bond of China-Singapore. We should also make a contribution to social harmony, development of Buddhism and world peace."

The Most Ven. Zewu said, "Today we came here and felt delighted to see that so many alumni are devoted into the local development of Buddhism. The development of the BCM, from its establishment to today, is based on the spirit of undertaking duty with compassionate development to the Triple Gem. Now we found the BCMAA and hope via this platform we could unite the power of overseas alumni to play a greater role in local religious and cultural development, thus promoting social harmony and friendships. I hope all of alumni could gather and make this organization as a multi-cultural, powerful and inclusive platform which sets a good example for Mahayana cooperation, and contribute to the world peace and people's wellbeing."

Ven. Master Jingxin explained the significance of the founding of BCMAA. He said, "Singapore is our last station of this study tour. It also had a closest relationship with the Buddhism of Xiamen. In modern history, many masters came here for the promotion of Buddhism while most of them were from the Nanputuo Monastery and the BCM. Today via such a great opportunity, witnessed by so many guests and masters, we held this ceremony in Zu-Lin Temple. The establishment of the BCMAA overseas branches is following the contemporary trend and the development of Buddhism. It aims to not only link overseas alumni but also to cultivate large numbers of qualified Buddhists for Mahayana in the future, which will take Chinese Buddhism towards the world and contribute to the revival of Chinese ethnics by achieving the 'Chinese Dream'. "

Later, Dr. Zhang, Dr. He, PBM Mr. Lin, the Most Ven. Zewu, the Most Ven. Falin, the Most Ven. Kaixiang, and Ven. Master Dingheng unveiled the plaque of the BCMAA-Singapore together. The Most Ven. Zewu issued the certificate to the President of the BCMAA-Singapore the Most Ven. Kaixiang while announced the establishment of the BCMAA-Singapore. He wished this organization could unite alumni and promote Mahayana and Buddhist culture.
